New Jersey Master of Arts in English Language Learning Certification and Exam Requirements
In New Jersey, this program leads to an endorsement in English as a Second Language (CEAS)
You must pass this exam to graduate from this program.
You must achieve a minimum score of "Advanced Low Level" on the ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) and Writing Proficiency Test (WPT) to be recommended for an ESL endorsement. Note: If you have satisfied one of New Jersey's basic skills exam requirements (found in the NJ Basic Skills Requirements article), then you are exempt from taking the WPT exam. You must provide licensure with a passing score report of the eligible exam in order for Licensure to recommend you without the WPT exam. The OPI exam is not exempted.
Practicum: All WGU students in an ELL program must complete a 30 hour practicum. If you wish to receive a K-12 endorsement, you need to do your practicum at the K-12 level.
