New Mexico Elementary Education Certification and Exam Requirements

LICENSE AND EXAM REQUIREMENTS

Elementary Education Certification Available
 Elementary K-8

Graduates of a WGU elementary education teacher preparation program will be eligible for elementary K-8 teacher certification in New Mexico, which will allow them to teach in any multiple subject classroom in that grade range.

Elementary Education Exams and Requirements:

 

Exam Requirement Note
Elementary Content Exam NMTA Elementary Education Subtests I and II (102, 103) Required to be passed before the deadline for your DT cohort.
Elementary Pedagogy Exam

NMTA Assessment of Professional Knowledge: Elementary (051)

      and

NMTA Essential Components of Elementary Reading Instruction (104)

Both of these exams must be passed before requesting a recommendation for teacher licensure.
