Middle Grades Mathematics Exams and Requirements:

Content Exams

Praxis 5169, Middle School: Mathematics

For policies and deadlines see State Certification Exam Requirements, General Policies and Pacing Guides: Preparing for Demonstration Teaching.

 

The NMTA Middle Grades Mathematics (203) exam may be accepted in lieu of Praxis 5169 if passed prior to 8/31/2020.

 

If passed prior to 1/5/2015: NMTA Middle Level Mathematics (24) may be substituted.

Pedagogy Exams

Praxis 5624, Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT): Grades 7-12

Required to be passed before requesting a recommendation for teacher licensure.

  

The NMTA Assessment of Professional Knowledge: Elementary (051) OR NMTA  Assessment of Professional Knowledge: Secondary (052) exam may be accepted in lieu of Praxis 5624 if passed prior to 8/31/2020.

 

If passed prior to 1/5/2015: New Mexico Assessment of Teacher Competency—Elementary (03) OR New Mexico Assessment of Teacher Competency—Secondary (04) may be substituted.

Praxis 5169, Middle School : Mathematics 

Students must pass this exam before applying for graduation.
