Nevada Early Childhood Education Certification and Exam Requirements-Reciprocity Pathway

 

In Nevada, this program leads to an Initial License in Early Childhood, Birth - Grade 2

 

Obtaining an initial Utah license is required to apply for an initial license in Nevada via the Reciprocity Pathway. Note: Students who enrolled before 10/1/2015 AND were living in Nevada at this time can license directly in Nevada. Contact licensure@wgu.edu if you need clarification on eligibility and exam requirements.


Content Exams:
1. Praxis 5024, Education of Young Children

You must pass this exam to graduate and be recommended for licensure. 

(Or, if passed prior to 9/1/2014: Praxis 5021, Education of Young Children)
 
2. Praxis 5025 Early Childhood Education

You must pass this exam to graduate and be recommended for licensure. 

(Or, if passed prior to 9/1/2015: Praxis 5022 Early Childhood: Content Knowledge)

3. Praxis 5001, Elementary Education: Multiple Subjects 

You must pass this exam to graduate and be recommended for licensure. 
This exam also satisfies the WGU Program Requirement.


 

** Please note that you must select the Utah State Board of Education as an official score recipient.  You must have ordered your USBE background check and have been issued a CACTUS ID before the USBE can record and retain your scores.  The USBE will not be automatically included as a score recipient by ETS when you register for your exams.  You may find instructions on how to select the USBE as an official score recipient in the Submitting Exam Scores to the Utah State Board of Education article in this handbook.  Western Governors University will not submit your score reports to the USBE on your behalf. Failure to report official content exam scores to the USBE may result in delays in the licensing process.
