Nevada Secondary Mathematics Certification and Exam Requirements

In Nevada, this program leads to an Initial License in Secondary Mathematics Grades 7-12

Important Note Regarding Field Experiences and Licensure 

 

Note: Applicants must have passed the required exams within five years prior to the date they apply for licensure.

 

1. Content Exam: Praxis 5161, Mathematics: Content Knowledge

You must pass this test to graduate from this program and be recommended for certification. This exam also satisfies the WGU Program Requirement.


2. Pedagogy Exam: Praxis 5624, Principles of Learning and Teaching (7-12)

You must pass this test to be recommended for certification. 

NOTE:

Students in the Master of Arts in Teaching – Mathematics (5-12) program may be eligible for WGU’s Nevada Alternative Route to Licensure (ARL) program. For more information on eligibility requirements, please review the Nevada Alternative Route to Licensure (ARL) student handbook article. Students in the ARL program license via the approved pathway.
