New York BA Special Education/ Elementary Education Certification and Exam Requirements

LICENSE AND EXAM REQUIREMENTS

Certification Available for Graduates of WGU's BA Special Education/Elementary Education Program: Elementary Education Grades 1-6 and Students with Disabilities Grades 1-6

Graduates of WGU's BA Special Education teacher preparation program will be eligible for grades 1-6 Elementary Education and grades 1-6 Students with Disabilities teacher certification in New York. Upon certification, graduates will be able to teach in both special and regular education settings at the elementary level.

  Previous Content Exam Requirement:  NYSTCE Multi-Subject (002) Accepted if passed prior to 09/22/14.

WGU Program Requirement

Praxis 5543 Special Education: Core Knowledge and Mild to Moderate Applications

Required for graduation for all students who matriculated on or after 9/1/2011.

Elementary Pedagogy Exam

Educating All Students Test (EAS)

Required to be passed before requesting a Letter of Recommendation for Licensure from the WGU Licensure Office.
