New York BA Special Education Mild to Moderate Certification and Exam Requirements

LICENSE AND EXAM REQUIREMENTS

Certification Available for Graduates of WGU's BA Special Education Mild to Moderate Program:  Students with Disabilities Grades 1-6 

Special Education Exams and Requirements:

 

1) Content Exams for Mild to Moderate Special Education Certification:

A.  Multi-Subject: Teachers of Childhood Grade 1–Grade 6 (221/222/245). OR  NYSTCE Multi-Subject (002) if passed prior to 09/22/14.

B.  Students with Disabilities (060)

C.  WGU Program Requirement:  Praxis 5543 Special Education: Core Knowledge and Mild to Moderate Applications.  This exam is required for graduation for all students who matriculated on or after 9/1/2011.

2) Pedagogy Exam

A.  Educating All Students Test (EAS).  Graduates must submit passing scores for this exam before the WGU Licensure Office can issue a Letter of Recommendation for New York Licensure.
