New York Master of Arts in Mathematics Education (MAME) Certification and Exam Requirements
Important Information: The purpose of WGU’s Master of Arts, Mathematics Education (MAME) program in New York is to enable students to earn a regionally accredited master’s degree. New York requires 30 credits in this subject area. This requirement can not be met by completing WGU’s Master of Arts, Mathematics Education (MAME) program alone.
The New York State Education Department (NYSED) will make an authoritative and final determination about your eligibility for certification after evaluating your transcripts. Depending on what coursework you completed prior to this program, NYSED may require you to complete additional coursework outside WGU before you will be issued a Mathematics certification.
LICENSE AND EXAM REQUIREMENTS
In New York this program leads to a second Initial Certificate through the Completion of a College Teacher Education Program in another U.S. State pathway. This program does not meet the requirements for a Professional Certificate.
In New York, WGU's Master of Arts in Mathematics Education (Middle Grades) program leads to an endorsement in Middle Childhood Mathematics, Grades 5-9
In New York, WGU's Master of Arts in Mathematics Education (Secondary) program leads to an endorsement in Mathematics, Grades 7-12
Graduates of WGU's Master of Arts, Mathematics Education (Middles Grades) or Master of Arts, Mathematics Education (Secondary) program may pursue mathematics certification in New York at the middle or secondary level.
