How to Add an Additional Endorsement

Educators holding current Ohio teaching licenses can add endorsements to their licenses in additional teaching areas by completing a state-approved teacher preparation program in the new teaching area and passing the Ohio Assessments for Educators (OAE) required by the Ohio Department of Education for that content area.

Those who have completed endorsement programs at WGU should follow the instructions in the OH Teacher Certification Application Information and Instructions -Direct & State Approved Pathway article in this handbook to prepare their applications for adding the new endorsement area.

Note: The requirements to add an endorsement in Ohio are the same, whether you are adding an endorsement at a new grade level (Elementary > Secondary) or the same grade level (Secondary to Secondary).
