OH BA Special Education/Elementary Education Certification and Exam Requirements - Direct Pathway

In Ohio, this program leads to a Resident Educator license in Early Childhood Education (P-3) with an Early Childhood Generalist (4-5) endorsement and Intervention Specialist Mild/Moderate Needs K-12.

 

1) Content Exams Early Childhood Certification:  OAE Early Childhood Education (012) and OAE Elementary Education Subtests I and II (018 and 019)

You must pass both of these exams to graduate from the program and be recommended for certification.

Or, if passed prior to 9/3/13, Praxis 5014.

Or, if passed prior to 9/1/2010, Praxis 0353.

 

2) Content Exam Special Education Certification:  Praxis 5543, Special Education: Core Knowledge and Mild to Moderate Applications or OAE Special Education (043)

You must pass one of these exams to graduate from the program and be recommended for certification. Taking the Praxis 5543 also satisfies the WGU Program Requirement.

Or, if passed prior to 9/3/13, Praxis 5354.Praxis 5354 does not satisfy the WGU Program Requirement.

 

3) Pedagogy Exams: 

OAE Assessment of Professional Knowledge: Early Childhood PK-3 (001) 

Or, if passed prior to 9/3/13: Praxis 5621, Praxis 5622, Praxis 5623, OR Praxis 5624

and

OAE Foundations of Reading (090)

You must pass both of these exams to be recommended for licensure.

 

 4) WGU Program Requirement: Praxis 5543, Special Education: Core Knowledge and Mild to Moderate Applications 

If you matriculated on 9/1/2011 or later, you must pass this exam to graduate from the program and be recommended for certification.
