How to Add an Additional Endorsement

MA Mathematics Education (MAME) and MA Science Education (MASE)

Educators in Pennsylvania can add math or science areas to their Instructional certificate by passing the appropriate Praxis exam, as described in PA Administrative Code § 49.18.(e).

Certified Pennsylvania educators who would like to apply to add an instructional area to their teaching certificate via testing alone can do so in the TIMS application. Visit the TIMS Access Page and find the "Log In" button in the upper left area of the page. Click on "Register" to create your account. After your account is created, return to TIMS Access Page and click on "Access the TIMS application by clicking here" at the bottom of the page. Click on "New Credential Application" and follow the instructions in the online application to complete and submit your application.

Note: The requirements to add an endorsement in Pennsylvania after completing a WGU MAME or MASE program are the same, whether you are adding an endorsement at a new grade level (Elementary to Secondary) or the same grade level (Secondary to Secondary).

MS Special Education (MSSP) and English Language Learning (ENDELL, MAELL)

Special Education and English as a Second Language can be added to your existing Pennsylvania license after graduating from the appropriate WGU program. Special Education graduates must also pass the appropriate content exam(s).

Certified Pennsylvania educators who have completed a teacher preparation program for a new certification area can apply for certification by following the instructions in the Pennsylvania Certification Application Information article in this handbook.
