LICENSE AND EXAM REQUIREMENTS

Secondary Science Certifications Available
Biology, Grades 7-12
Chemistry, Grades 7-12
Earth Science, Grades 7-12
Physics, Grades 7-12

Graduates of a WGU Master of Arts in Science Education (MASE) grades 5-12 program will be eligible for grades 7-12 teacher certification in Puerto Rico in the area(s) in which they have content specialization. While WGU's secondary science teacher preparation programs cover grades 5-12, grades 7-12 certification will be awarded in Puerto Rico because that is how the PR Department of Education defines the grade range of secondary-level certification.

Puerto Rico only certifies students at the secondary level in grades 7-12.  WGU students should not enroll in a grades 5-9 science program.

To add a new teaching area to a Puerto Rico Certificate, students must complete 21 semester hours in the new content area, teaching and methodology courses at the grade level in which they wish to teach, and the required
PCMAS exam required for certification.  Your WGU program may not include all 21 semester hours required by Puerto Rico.
