Rhode Island Basic Skills Requirement

Basic Skills Exam: Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators: Combined Test (5751)
(Prior to 9/1/2014: Praxis I: Pre-Professional Skills Tests (PPST))

While the Rhode Island Department of Education does not require a basic skills exam for certification, WGU requires that all students in the Teachers College take and pass a basic skills test within the first six months of entering the Foundations of Teaching (FOT)  domain. Students planning to license in Rhode Island must pass all three sections (Reading, Writing, and Mathematics) of the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators (Core) exam.

To ensure WGU receives your Praxis Core scores, add WGU (Recipient Code #4944) as an official score recipient when you register for Praxis Core. You may wish to consider consulting the Registering for Praxis Exams article.
