Tennessee Administrator Certification Application Information and Instructions

To be eligible for recommendation by the Licensure Office, students completing an Educational Leadership program must graduate and have their degree posted to their WGU transcript.
Tennessee accepts direct applications for Instructional Leadership - Beginning licensure from students who have completed an out-of-state, approved Instructional Leadership preparation program, such as the Educational Leadership programs offered by WGU. Follow the steps below to prepare your application for Tennessee licensure. You may also access this Tennessee Department of Education webpage for administrator certification application information.
Step 1: Request official transcripts in sealed envelopes from every college you have attended. Two copies of your final WGU transcript will be sent to you along with your diploma upon graduation. If you would like to order additional transcripts, see WGU Transcript Request. Do not request a transcript until you have received notice of graduation, so that your graduation date will appear on your transcript. Be sure to leave your transcripts in the sealed envelopes to be included with your application packet.
Step 2: If the Tennessee Department of Education is not listed as a recipient on your SLLA score report, you will need to contact ETS and request that they mail an official score report directly to the Tennessee DOE. You may do this by calling 1-800-772-9476 or by submitting the Additional Score Report Request Form to ETS via fax or mail.
Step 3: Download and fill out the Instructional Leadership License application form.
a) Complete all four sections on Page 1.
b) Write your name and license number (if applicable) at the top of Page 2. Do not complete anything else on Page 2.
c) On page 3, steps 3-5 of option 1b are the responsibility of the graduate. Do no complete anything on page 4
Step 4: Send the partially-completed application form to the WGU Certification Analyst at the contact information below. The analyst will review your application and complete steps 1 and 2 of option 1b on page 3 and return it to you for inclusion in your application packet. Fax and email submissions are preferred; email attachments should be in pdf format.
Step 5: If using the Experience Verification Form method to verify work experience, then you need to have an authorized school official from the employing school fill out the Experience Verification Form and return it to you for inclusion in your application packet.
Step 6: Compile all application documents:
a) Application form, including university recommendation,
b) All official transcripts,
c) Experience Verification Form (if applicable),
