Texas BA Special Education/ Elementary Education Certification and Exam Requirements-Reciprocity Pathway

 

In Texas, the BASP program leads to Standard Certification in Core Subjects EC-6 and/or 4-8 and Special Education EC-12.

 

1) Utah Content Exam: Praxis 5001 Elementary Education: Multiple Subjects

You must pass this exam to graduate from the program and be recommended for certification. This exam also meets the WGU Program Requirement.

Or, if passed prior to 7/1/2015, Praxis 5031

Or, if passed prior to 9/1/2012, Praxis 5014

 

2) Utah Special Education Content Exam: Praxis 5543, Special Education: Core Knowledge and Applications

You must pass this exam to graduate from the program and be recommended for certification. This exam also meets the WGU Program Requirement.

 

After applying for your Review of Credentials in Texas, TEA may require you to also pass the following exams:

TExES Core Subjects EC-6 (291) and/or Core Subjects 4-8 (211)

TExES Special Education EC-12 (161)

TExES Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities EC-12 (160)

 


Demonstration Teaching Requirement
16 weeks divided between elementary and special education, as determined by WGU.
