Texas Middle Grades Mathematics Certification and Exam Requirements-Reciprocity Pathway

 

In Texas, the middle grades mathematics program leads to a Standard Certificate in Mathematics, 4-8

 

1) Utah Content Exam:  Praxis 5169, Middle School Mathematics

You must pass this exam to graduate from your program and be recommended for certification. This exam meets the  WGU Program Requirement.

 

** Please note that you must select the Utah State Board of Education as an official score recipient.  You must have ordered your USBE background check and have been issued a CACTUS ID before the USBE can record and retain your scores.  The USBE won't automatically be included as a score reciptient by ETS when you register for your exams.  You can find instructions on how to select the USBE as an official score recipient in the Submitting Exam Scores to the Utah State Board of Education article in this handbook.  Western Governors University will not submit your score reports to the USBE on your behalf.  

 

After applying for your Review of Credentials in Texas, TEA may require you to also pass the following exams:

TExES Mathematics 4-8 (115)

TExES Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities EC-12 (160)
