Texas has the following general requirements for all applicants for standard teacher certification.
1. DEGREE REQUIREMENTS:Graduation from a Bachelor's degree program.
2. BACKGROUND CLEARANCE:Background clearance resulting from completion of the required background check upon application for teacher certification.
3. CONTENT AND PEDAGOGY EXAMS:Passing scores on the required TExES content and pedagogy exams. Students in a MAT or Post-bacc teacher licensure program at WGU are required to take these exams during the course of their WGU program.
Note: TExES exams can only be taken 5 times. If you do not pass an exam by the 5th attempt, you can contact Licensure firstname.lastname@example.org request a waiver for additional attempts.
