UT ESL Endorsement Application Information and Instructions



Graduates of WGU's Master of Arts, English Language Learning  (MAELL) or Endorsement Preparation Program, English Language Learning  (ENDELL) programs are eligible to add an English as a Second Language Endorsement to their existing Utah license. Utah requires application for the English as a Second language be submitted within five years of completing the required coursework. Please follow these steps to add the UT ESL Endorsement:


Step 1 - Obtain an original copy of your WGU transcript. Two copies of your final WGU transcript will be mailed to you along with your diploma upon graduation. If you would like to order additional transcripts, including official electronic transcripts, see Transcript Request in the WGU Student Handbook.


Step 2 -  Complete the Utah State Board of Education application for the English as a Second Language Endorsement:


- Fill in the Applicant Information section on page one.

- For each Domain on page two, add the year in which you completed the listed course. 

- Highlight courses on your original WGU transcript to correspond with the courses* listed on the application.


*If the courses on your transcript do not match those listed on the partially completed application and you are unable to determine which courses to substitute for those listed, please email licensure@wgu.edu for assistance.


Step 3 -  Mail or deliver your completed application, and highlighted original transcript to:

Once the Utah State Board of Education has processed your application, you will be able to use your CACTUS account to verify that the endorsement has been added to your license.
