Utah MS Special Education Certification and Exam Requirements

In Utah, WGU's Master of Science in Special Education program leads to an endorsement in Mild/Moderate Special Education K-12 .

1) Utah Content ExamPraxis 5543 Special Education: Core Knowledge and Mild to Moderate ApplicationsOR  Praxis 5354 Special Education: Core Knowledge and Applications

You must submit a passing score of one of these exams to be recommended for certification. The Praxis 5543 is the recommended exam because it also satisfies the WGU Program Requirement

 

2) WGU Program Requirement:  Praxis 5543 Special Education: Core Knowledge and Mild to Moderate Applications

If you matriculated 9/1/2011, or later, you must pass this exam to graduate from the program.

Practicum Requirement: Those who matriculate into the MS Special Education program after March 1, 2010, will complete 240 in-class clock hours of supervised practicum in elementary and secondary special education classrooms as part of their capstone project.
