UT Special Education Mild/Moderate Endorsement Application Information and Instructions


The information in this article applies to students enrolled in WGU programs that lead to a Utah Special Education Mild/Moderate Endorsement (Master of Science, Special Education).

General information for adding endorsements in subject areas that are not offered at WGU can be found through the Utah State Board of Education.




Graduates of WGU's Master of Science, Special Education (MSSP) programs are eligible to add the Special Education Mild/Moderate Endorsement to their existing Utah license. Please follow these steps to add the UT Special Education Mild/Moderate Endorsement:

Step 1: Download the University Licensure Recommendation form to your computer and open it in Acrobat Reader.  Do not open it in a web browser as it will not save any information that you enter on the form.

Step 2:  Enter your personal information in the Applicant Information fields, including your most current address.  Save your application, then send it as an attachment to an email requesting your recommendation to licensure@wgu.edu.


Note: Despite the fact that fees are listed on the application form, the Utah State Board of Education is not currently requiring fees for endorsement applications.  No check is required to be included with your application.


Step 3:  The WGU Licensure Office will complete your University Recommendation form and will mail it to the Utah State Board of Education on your behalf.  You will be emailed a copy for your records.


It usually takes 2-3 weeks from the date of submission for your recommendation to be processed.
