Basic Skills Exam: Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators: Combined Test (5751)
The U.S. Virgin Islands has established the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators exam (Core) in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics as the required basic skills exam for teacher licensing. WGU requires all students who reside in USVI to pass all three sections of the Core basic skills examination within the first 6 months of entering the Foundations of Teaching (FOT) domain at WGU.
Previous Basic Skills Exam (if passed prior to September 2013): Praxis I: Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST)
Go to http://www.ets.org/praxis for information on test dates, fees, and registration. The minimum required scores for the Virgin Islands can be found by reviewing the VI Praxis Exam Requirements.
You should sign up to take your basic skills examination when you begin studying Foundations of Teaching to ensure you have time to complete the examination prior to enrollment in Effective Teaching Practices.
To ensure that WGU receives your scores and can verify your eligibility for DT, you must fax a copy of your official score report to the Assessments Office at 1-801-606-7021 or email a scanned copy to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you uploaded your official basic skills passing scores as part of your DT application, you do not need to fax or email your scores separately.
