U.S. Virgin Islands Elementary Education Certification and Exam Requirements

LICENSE AND EXAM REQUIREMENTS
Elementary Certification Available:Elementary Educator, Grades K-6
Graduates of a WGU elementary education teacher preparation program will be eligible for Grades K-6 elementary educator certification in the U.S. Virgin Islands, which will allow them to teach in any multiple subject classroom in this grade range. While WGU's program covers grades K-8, K-6 certification will be awarded because that is how the U.S. Virgin Islands defines the grade levels in elementary education.
Elementary Education Exams and Requirements:
Content Exam for Virgin Islands Certification: Praxis 5018, Elementary Education: Content Knowledge
Pedagogy Exam: Praxis 5622, Principles of Learning and Teaching: Grades K-6
Prior to applying for licensure in the US Virgin Islands, you must pass the Praxis 5018 and 5622 exams required by the Virgin Islands for elementary education certification and meet all other general U.S. Virgin Island teacher certification requirements.
REGISTERING FOR EXAMS
Before registering for the Praxis II exams, be sure to review WGU's general policies regarding external certification exams. Exam registration is available through the ETS website at www.ets.org/praxis. The ETS website will provide you with the test dates available. The minimum required scores for the Virgin Islands can be found by reviewing the VI Praxis Exam Requirements.
SUBMITTING SCORES TO WGU
To ensure that WGU receives ALL of your exam scores and can verify your eligibility for licensure, you must fax a copy of your official score report to the Assessments Office at 1-801-606-7021 or email a scanned copy to email@example.com. All required exam scores must be on file with WGU at your time of graduation so that the Certification Officer can recommend you for certification.
