Vermont Master of Arts in Science Education (MASE)

In Vermont, completion of the Master of Arts in Science Education (5-9) program leads to an endorsement in Middle Grades Science Grades 5-9.

 

Content Exam: Praxis 5440, Middle School Science

You must pass this exam to graduate from the program and be recommended for Vermont certification. This exam also satisfies the WGU Program Requirement

 

In Vermont, completion of the Master of Arts in Science Education (5-12) program leads to an endorsement in one of the following:

Science with Biology Specialization, Grades 7-12
Science with Chemistry Specialization, Grades 7-12
Science with Earth Science Specialization, Grades 7-12
Science with Physics Specialization, Grades 7-12

1) Praxis 5435, General Science: Content Knowledge


AND

 

2) Praxis 5235, Biology: Content Knowledge

 

You must pass both of these exams to graduate from the program and be recommended for Vermont certification. Praxis 5235 also satisfies the WGU Program Requirement

 

MASE Grades 5-12 (Secondary): Chemistry

 

1) Praxis 5435, General Science: Content Knowledge


AND

 

2) Praxis 5245, Chemistry: Content Knowledge

 

You must pass both of these exams to graduate from the program and be recommended for Vermont certification. Praxis 5245 also satisfies the WGU Program Requirement.

 

MASE Grades 5-12 (Secondary): Earth Science

 

1) Praxis 5435, General Science: Content Knowledge


AND

 

2) Praxis 5571, Earth and Space Sciences: Content Knowledge

 

You must pass both of these exams to graduate from the program and be recommended for Vermont certification. Praxis 5571 also satisfies the WGU Program Requirement

 

MASE Grades 5-12 (Secondary): Physics

 

1) Praxis 5435, General Science: Content Knowledge


AND

 

2) Praxis 5265, Physics: Content Knowledge

 

You must pass both of these exams to graduate from the program and be recommended for Vermont certification. Praxis 5265 also satisfies the WGU Program Requirement

 


Practicum: The Vermont Department of Education requires that a 60 hour practicum be completed in order to add a Mathematics endorsement. Students must make arrangements to extend their practicum to 60 hours with their student and course mentors.
