Apply for a Limited Teaching Certificate while enrolled in a WGU program: WA Limited Teacher Certificates


Washington has the following general requirements for all initial teacher certification applicants:

1. DEGREE REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from a Bachelor's degree or higher program from a regionally accredited college or university.

2. PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS: Completion of a teacher education program that is approved to lead to teacher certification in the home-state of the program and recommendation for certification by the approved program.

3. BASIC SKILLS EXAM: Passing scores on one of the West-B basic skills exam

4. CONTENT EXAMS: Passing scores on the required subject matter examinations.

5. BACKGROUND CLEARANCE: Fingerprint clearance resulting from completing the required background check.

6. TEACHING PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT: Completion of the Washington Teaching Performance Assessment requirement.
