Wisconsin BA Special Education Mild to Moderate Certification and Exam Requirements
In Wisconsin, this program leads to a license in Cross-Categorical Special Education (Grades K-12)
1) Wisconsin Content Exam: Praxis 5146, Middle School: Content Knowledge. You must pass this exam to graduate from the program and be recommended for licensure.
2) WGU Program Requirement: Praxis 5543, Special Education: Core Knowledge and Mild to Moderate Applications. While the Wisconsin DPI does not require you receive a Utah teaching license before applying for Wisconsin licensure, it does require you to be eligible for Utah certification. As such, you must pass both the Utah content exams required for special education licensure (Praxis 5543) and the exams that Wisconsin requires (Praxis 5146 and NES Foundations of Reading) to be eligible for Wisconsin licensure.
3) Pedagogy Exam: NES Foundations of Reading. You must pass this exam to be recommended for licensure.
