In West Virginia, the Middle Grades Science Education program leads to an endorsement in Middle School General Science, grades 5-9 

 

In West Virginia, the Secondary Science Education program leads an endorsement in one of the following areas:  
Biological Sciences, Grade 9-Adult
Chemistry, Grade 9-Adult
Earth & Space Science, Grade 5 -Adult
Physics, Grade 9-Adult

Exam Requirement

 

Middle Grades

Content Exam:Praxis 5440, Middle School Science         

You must pass this exam to graduate from the program and be recommended for certification. This exam also satisfies the WGU Program Requirement.          

Secondary Biological Sciences

 Content: Praxis 5235, Biology: Content Knowledge

You must pass this exam to graduate from the program and be recommended for certification. This exam also satisfies the WGU Program Requirement.

Secondary Chemistry

 Content: Praxis 5245, Chemistry: Content Knowledge

You must pass this exam to graduate from the program and be recommended for certification. This exam also satisfies the WGU Program Requirement.

Secondary Earth & Space Science

  Content: Praxis 5571, Earth and Space Sciences: Content Knowledge

You must pass this exam to graduate from the program and be recommended for certification. This exam also satisfies the WGU Program Requirement.

Secondary Physics

Content: Praxis 5265, Physics: Content Knowledge

You must pass this exam to graduate from the program and be recommended for certification. This exam also satisfies the WGU Program Requirement.

Practicum Requirement
West Virginia requires completion of the practicum in a public school.
